Junk removal companies serving Belmont

Belmont had 15,010 residents at the 2020 census, and its ZIP code, 28012, also reaches into parts of Mount Holly and Cramerton. The companies below say they work here. We check each listing against our rules, but we don't rank them and we don't do any hauling ourselves. If your item can wait for the city's next quarterly pickup, that is often the cheapest route, and the rules for it are on this page.

Featured is a paid spot and is always labeled. Every other company here is listed free, grouped and ordered the way How we list explains. Listings were checked against each company's own pages in October 2026. Confirm prices and availability with the company before you book.

Between two arms of Lake Wylie

Belmont sits between the Catawba River and the South Fork Catawba River, the two arms that form Lake Wylie. It began as Garibaldi Station, took the Belmont name in 1883 and incorporated in 1895. Chronicle Mills was organized in 1901, and nearly twenty mills went up in town by 1930.

Downtown has been a National Register historic district since 1996, and the Belmont Abbey College campus, founded by the Benedictines in 1876, is a historic district of its own. Older houses tend to hide their clutter in attics and back rooms. Those are the jobs where a hauler helps most, because the city's bulk truck only collects what you can get to the curb on your own.

Waiting for the quarter, or not

The city collects bulk items quarterly. Bulk means anything too large to fit in a closed 95-gallon cart: furniture, mattresses, box springs, appliances with the doors removed, and rolled carpet. The city lists no fee. When we checked, the schedule for the new fiscal year was still marked coming soon, so call Public Works at 704-825-0512 for the next date.

The list of exclusions is long. Bagged or loose trash, extra bags beside the cart, construction debris, dirt, rock, concrete, brick, asphalt, yard waste, paint, chemicals, batteries and tires all stay behind. A job that mixes a couch with a torn-out deck needs a different plan, and that is where comparing a few hauler quotes makes sense.

If you have one dresser, it is already in the garage, and the pickup is weeks away, wait for the city. You keep the money and lose nothing but time.

Questions to put to a Belmont hauler

Prices from local junk removal companies are usually built on volume. Published prices from Charlotte-area companies (October 2026) show a median of $241 for a quarter of a truck and $431 for half. Use those numbers to judge whether a quote sits in the normal range, and remember that no company on this page is bound by them.

Then ask about the details that change the bill. Is loading included, and will the crew carry from upstairs or the basement? Is there a charge for mattresses or box springs, where the published local add-on is $25 a piece? Are refrigerators, TVs or tires extra? How is concrete or brick priced? Does the price cover a sweep-up afterward? A company that answers clearly before the truck arrives is easier to hold to its number.

Where Belmont's junk goes

County records show a New Hope Recycling Center serving this side of Gaston County, but its address was in flux in October 2026. Call the county Recycling Hotline at 704-922-7729 to confirm which site is open before you drive. Riverbend, on Mountain Island Road in Mount Holly, is another full-service option for county residents. The Where to take it guide covers the rest.

One donation quirk trips people up. The Goodwill store labeled 'Belmont' is at 6507 Wilkinson Blvd, which is in Charlotte, across the river in Mecklenburg County. The Habitat for Humanity ReStore at 1840 E Franklin Blvd in Gastonia takes furniture and working appliances within age limits, but not mattresses. Ask any hauler you hire whether usable pieces go to donation, and see furniture removal for more on what to ask.

Belmont's own bulk pickup

Belmont collects bulky household items quarterly: anything too large to fit in a closed 95-gallon cart, such as furniture, mattresses, box springs, appliances (doors removed) and rolled carpet. No fee is stated. Not accepted: bagged or loose trash, extra bags, construction debris, dirt, rock, concrete, brick, asphalt, yard waste, hazardous waste, chemicals, paint, batteries and tires. The new schedule was listed as coming soon, so ask Public Works at 704-825-0512 or publicworks@cityofbelmont.org for the next date.

Belmont junk removal questions

How much does junk removal cost in Belmont?
As a yardstick, published prices from Charlotte-area companies (October 2026) have a median minimum charge of about $108 and a median of about $700 for a full truck. Most household jobs, such as a room of furniture or a corner of the garage, fall somewhere between. Those figures are not what any listed company has agreed to charge you. Ask each one for a price in writing before loading starts.
Does Belmont pick up bulk items?
Yes, four times a year. The city takes items too large for a closed 95-gallon cart, such as furniture, mattresses, box springs, appliances with doors removed and rolled carpet. It does not take construction debris, yard waste, paint, batteries or tires. Public Works at 704-825-0512 or publicworks@cityofbelmont.org can give you the next date.
Where can I drop off a mattress near Belmont?
County full-service recycling centers take mattresses and box springs for 2 GarbCards ($10) each, paid with prepaid cards rather than cash. Riverbend in Mount Holly is one of them. The New Hope site on the Belmont side was relocating in fall 2026, so confirm with the Recycling Hotline at 704-922-7729 first. The Habitat ReStore does not accept mattresses.
Is the Goodwill called 'Belmont' in Gaston County?
No. Goodwill names a store 'Belmont', but its address, 6507 Wilkinson Blvd, is in Charlotte, just across the Catawba River in Mecklenburg County. It sits just east of town, so it is still a short drive. Goodwill does not post its accepted-item rules on its locations page, so call or visit the store before you load the car.
How can a junk removal company get listed for Belmont?
Start on the Get listed page. Listing a Belmont company costs nothing, and the regular list is never sold. The only paid placement is a single Featured slot at the top of each town page, and it carries a clear label. Free listings are reviewed the same way whether or not a company ever buys anything. How we list covers what we check.
