Junk removal companies serving Lowell

Lowell had 3,654 residents at the 2020 census and uses ZIP code 28098. Its free monthly bulk week covers more than most town programs, from mattresses to swing sets, so check it before you pay anyone. The companies listed below are for remodel leftovers, heavy items you can't carry out, and deadlines that won't wait a month. We publish the list and keep it current; the companies do the hauling.

Featured is a paid spot and is always labeled. Every other company here is listed free, grouped and ordered the way How we list explains. Listings were checked against each company's own pages in October 2026. Confirm prices and availability with the company before you book.

Named for a mill city up north

Lowell took its name from Lowell, Massachusetts, hoping to become a textile hub of the same kind. Settlement dates to 1848, when Woodlawn Mill went up on the South Fork Catawba River, and the town incorporated in 1879. The river still marks its northern edge.

George Poston Park lies northwest of town, and the Lowell Teacherage on West First Street is a county historic property. I-85 and US 29/US 74 carry most traffic through. A town with this much history has had generations to fill sheds and spare rooms.

Make the free week do the work

The town's bulk week runs once a month, and the remaining 2026 weeks start November 2 and December 7. Accepted items include furniture, chairs, beds, mattresses and springs, sofas, patio furniture, swing sets, grills, drained lawnmowers, bikes and bagged trash. Glass is fine if you tape an X across it, but windows are not.

Set items behind the curb after 5 PM the day before your trash day and by 6:30 AM. Items put out during an off week are still collected, but billed under the Pay As You Throw Bulk Program. Questions go to 704-824-3518, option 1.

If everything on your list fits those rules and you can carry it to the curb, the free week is hard to argue with.

When paying a hauler makes sense

The bulk week is not for commercial or contractor items or renovation remnants, so old cabinets, flooring and drywall need another route. It also assumes you can move everything to the curb before dawn. A sleeper sofa in a basement or a garage packed wall to wall changes that math.

Published prices from Charlotte-area companies (October 2026) give a median of $431 for half a truck and $579 for three quarters. Remodel debris is often priced by weight rather than volume, so ask how a company handles it. Ask also whether the price covers loading from inside the house and a sweep afterward. See garage cleanouts for more questions to ask.

Donation and disposal near Lowell

Goodwill has a store and donation drop-off at Franklin Square, 1004 South Church Street, in town. Goodwill doesn't post its accepted-item rules online, so call or stop by first. The Habitat ReStore in Gastonia takes sofas, dressers and tables in good shape and schedules free pickup of large items online.

Renovation debris goes to the Gaston County Landfill in Dallas, since no county convenience site accepts it. If you hire a company, ask whether usable pieces go to donation before anything heads to the landfill. The Where to take it guide covers every county site.

Lowell's own bulk pickup

Lowell junk removal questions

Is Lowell's monthly bulk pickup really free?
Yes, during the designated week. Items set behind the curb after 5 PM the night before your trash day and by 6:30 AM are collected at no charge. Anything set out in another week is still picked up, but billed under the Pay As You Throw Bulk Program. Call 704-824-3518, option 1, if you are unsure which week you are in.
When is the next bulk week in Lowell?
For the rest of 2026, the town lists the weeks of November 2 and December 7. The week of October 5 has already passed. Every 2026 bulk week falls early in its month, so check the town's bulk pickup page for 2027 dates once they post. Set items out the evening before your regular trash day during that week.
How much does junk removal cost in Lowell?
Published prices from Charlotte-area companies (October 2026) put the median minimum at about $108, a quarter truck at $241 and a full truck at about $700. Use them to sanity-check a quote; they are not prices that any company listed here has committed to. In Lowell, weigh any quote against the free bulk week before you hire.
Will the town take leftovers from my remodel?
No. Lowell's bulk program excludes commercial and contractor items and renovation remnants, and county convenience sites refuse construction and demolition debris. That material goes to the Gaston County Landfill in Dallas at $46 per ton with a half-ton minimum. A hauler can take it there for you, so ask how the company prices heavy material.
How do I list my junk removal company in Lowell?
Use the Get listed page to send your business details. Lowell listings are free, and the regular list is not for sale. One company at a time may rent the Featured slot at the top of the page, and that slot is clearly labeled. How we list explains the checks we run.
