Mount Holly junk removal
Mount Holly charges per item for curbside bulk pickup. This page lists the junk removal companies that work in town and shows how their prices compare with the sticker.
Town details from official town and county sources, checked October 2026.
Mount Holly grew from 13,656 residents in 2010 to 17,703 in 2020, and its homes sit in ZIP codes 28120 and 28012. The companies listed below serve the city. We publish this directory; we don't send trucks. Before you hire anyone, price the job against the city's orange-sticker system. For two or three light items you can carry yourself, the sticker usually wins by a wide margin.
Featured is a paid spot and is always labeled. Every other company here is listed free, grouped and ordered the way How we list explains. Listings were checked against each company's own pages in October 2026. Confirm prices and availability with the company before you book.

The city went by Woodlawn until 1875, then took its name from the Mount Holly Cotton Mill, the fourth mill built in Gaston County and the oldest one still standing. The mill and the downtown district are both on the National Register, and American & Efird remains the largest textile firm in town.
About four thousand new residents in a decade means plenty of moving boxes, replaced furniture and garages being set up for the first time. Longtime households near the Catawba River produce the other kind of job: emptying rooms that have been full for years. The two kinds price differently, which is worth knowing before you call.
To use the city's bulk pickup, buy an orange sticker at the Municipal Complex with cash, check or money order. The posted prices are $15 per bulk item such as a couch, chair or desk, $25 per appliance, $20 per mattress, $5 per box spring and $5 per off-rim tire. Stickered items go to the curb on your regular garbage day.
Add up a bedroom: a mattress, box spring, dresser and nightstand come to $55 in stickers. Published prices from Charlotte-area companies (October 2026) put the median for a quarter of a truck at $241. Part of that gap pays for carrying. A hauler brings the furniture down the stairs, while the sticker leaves that work to you.
So the honest rule here is simple. Light items you can move yourself belong on the sticker program. Heavy appliances, second-floor rooms, televisions the city won't take, or a full garage are where a hauler's quote deserves a look.
A clear quote from a junk removal company names the share of the truck, the labor included and any extras. Ask whether there is a stairs fee, since local practice ranges from nothing to a charge per flight. Ask about mattresses, which carry a published $25 add-on in this area, and about freezers, since refrigerant appliances often cost more to handle. Ask whether paying by card adds a processing fee; a few local companies publish 3.5 percent.
Get the total before anything is loaded, and get it in writing if you can. The appliance removal page covers what to ask about refrigerators, washers and water heaters.
The county's Riverbend Recycling Center is in town at 146 Mountain Island Road. It is open Monday through Saturday from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM and Sunday from 1:00 to 5:30 PM. Recyclables are free. Bulky household garbage and each mattress or box spring cost 2 GarbCards ($10), and each TV or monitor costs 1 GarbCard ($5). Bring prepaid cards, because cash isn't taken.
Riverbend turns away construction debris such as wood and carpet, which goes to the Gaston County Landfill in Dallas. If you hire someone for a remodel cleanup, ask whether the quote includes the landfill's charge. The Where to take it guide has the full list of county sites.
